Bill Obershaw

Bill Obershaw
Midlothian, TX

Bill’s safe use of firearms began as a pre-teen during hunting trip in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California.  Being brought up shooting all type of firearms, added to his ability to qualify as an expert rifleman and pistol shot while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

After an honorable discharge from the US Marines, Bill pursued a career in Law Enforcement and served as a sworn Police Officer for over 14 years.  As part of his assigned duties for community outreach programs, Bill became an NRA Certified Instructor in Home Firearm Safety, Hunter Safety, Basic Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun.  Bill dedicated his free time to conducting training courses in hunter safety, basic rifle and pistol courses emphasizing beginning shooters.

During his tenure as a peace officer, Bill qualified and became a certified NRA Police Firearms Instructor and was assigned as firearms training officer for several police departments.

In addition to Bills law enforcement background Bill has a passion for instructing the public, with a particular emphasis on working with new shooters..  Bill feels that through education we can create a safer environment for all and it is for this reason that Bill has pioneered firearms and personal awareness classes in his home town of Midlothian, TX.

Bill’s passion for instructing is transferred to his students when they take his courses as he firmly believes that teaching others is the best way to present the safe and correct use of firearms.

The driving motivation for Bill is the look on the face of a new shooter after they walk way with the confidence and pride upon the completion of a successful shooting experience  While Bill’s ultimate goal is to teach classes locally within the Midlothian area he currently divides his time between the home front and instructing at other venues within the North Texas area.  Bill believes in Personal protection training, as well as, the belief in sharing life-time experiences to help other’s develop their skills and abilities to realize one’s best potential. Bill is driven to provide each person with the most viable training possible.

Bill is sure to be found teaching and instructing most every weekend that his schedule will allow.
